Prayer is Doing Business with God

Recently I was reading my Bible in Luke Chapter 11. It was that story Jesus told about the person who went to his friend at midnight and said, “Friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey and I have nothing to set before him.” His friend answered, “Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you.”

Jesus goes on to say, “Though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence (his shameless persistence and insistence) he will rise and give him as many as he needs. And I say to you, ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Our receiving from God in prayer is not based on our friendship with God. It is based on our covenant contract with God through the blood of Jesus Christ. We have friendship with God through our fellowship in the Holy Spirit but our receiving answers to our prayers are not based on it. Prayer is business, so don’t base it on your emotion.

Prayer is doing business with God!
